4-alarm fire breaks out at Stone Ranch apartment complex

An apartment complex in Dallas was ravaged by fire on the evening of Thursday, February 13.

According to reports, Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) responded to a huge fire that broke out on the third floor of the Stone Ranch Apartments just before 5:00 p.m. The roof and chimney stacks of the building were heavily damaged by the fire that eventually was categorized as a 4-alarm fire. The fire, which burned 42 apartments, was contained at around 8:00 p.m. Though no one was hurt in the fire, at least 81 individuals were reportedly homeless after it was contained.

Fire crews who inspected the area the following day said only the building walls were left after the roof and floors fell down. The estimated damage caused by the fire is around $565,000.

Authorities are still trying to figure out what the cause of the fire was.
