$100 million in insurance claims for West Texas fertilizer explosion
According to an insurance group, the explosion at a West Texas fertilizer plant has the potential of totaling $100 million in insurance claims.
The Insurance Council of Texas, based in Austin, stated that the blast killed 15 people, injured at least 200, and caused damage to 140 homes.
Once insurance adjusters have inspected the extent of the damages to all of the structures and vehicles, the full extent of the damage will be known; however, according to a council spokesperson, losses could reach up to $100 million. On Wednesday, the councilman also said that all policy holders have already been contacted by their corresponding insurance companies and presented with assistance.
