Bastrop recovery center will close November 18

The wildfire that swept across Bastrop in September ruined 34,000 acres and over 1,600 homes. Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, had set up a recovery center to help displaced individuals in the Bastrop area.

FEMA has decided that most people who needed help have received it and will close the center’s doors next Friday, November 18.

Since the set-up of the recovery center, there have been over 3,000 requests for help. There will still be a chance to receive aid from FEMA up until December 8, 2011. A representative for the agency stated that although the physical structure of the building will be gone there is still a chance for help through their national organization.
