Fire Destroys Fordland Home
A family lost their home to a house fire in Fordland Thursday night.
According to officials with the Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District, homeowner Jeanette Chance returned from a baseball game Thursday to find her house destroyed. The house was located between Rogersville and Fordland.
The Battlefield and Ozark fire departments assisted in battling the flames. Officials say the blaze was knocked down quickly, but a water supply problem delayed complete extinguishment. There are no fire hydrants near the home, officials said, and crews relied on water being trucked in on engines and tankers.
Neither Chance, nor her three children were injured in the fire. A two-year-old rat terrier named Zeus was killed in the blaze. Three dogs outside the home were unharmed.
