Storm damage in Dallas County estimated at $61M

Dallas County officials stated on June 8 that the damage caused by the recent storm is estimated at over $61 million, The Dallas Morning News reported.

According to reports, the bulk of the storm damage cost was in Dallas area at about $50 million. Other areas in Texas, including Garland, Carrollton, Irving, and Grand Prairie, each have damages amounting to $2 million. Residents in Dallas who were affected by the flooding may possibly file an application to get financial assistance to repair their properties. Local authorities were waiting for President Barack Obama to approve financial assistance for restoration of damaged properties. The historic thunderstorms that ravaged many parts of Texas in May killed at least four people in Dallas County.
