The wildfires that occurred over Labor Day weekend in Bastrop, Texas destroyed 1,673 homes. The insured losses for these fires are expected to hit $325 million.

More than half of the claims have been settled as of right now. Several homeowners have already received payment for their ruined homes. This year has become the most expensive year relating to wildfire insured losses hitting the $500 million mark. Before 2011, the costliest year for wildfires was in 2009 when insured losses hit $115 million.

It is crucial to the economy of Bastrop, as well as the surrounding areas, that these residents receive the money they are entitled to through their insurance company.
