The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association has received final House approval to make the claims process for these situations much simpler. The changes come from accusations from fired employees.

The changes that are in House Bill 272 require the TWIA to post salaries and wages paid to managers, specific deadlines for filing claims have been added, The name of the agency has been changed to theTexas Coastal Insurance Plan, and board members are prohibiting from contracting or employing family members.

The TWIA spent millions of dollars to protect itself from a class action lawsuit that stated that the company made questionable payouts after Hurricane Ike in 2008.
